Resolved Question: A great vet in nc for boxer?

20 December 2008, 5:57 am

We will be getting a boxer puppy in February and my husband wants to get the ears cropped.( Yes I know many will disapprove but this will not be your dog, it will be my husband's. His dog, his decision) I would like to know if anyone on here know of a great(not good) vet to do this surgery. I live in the piedmont area. I would like a vet within a reasonable distance. I live less than a hour from Winston-Salem if that helps. 8 years ago I went to one in Greensboro but the vet didn't even try to inform me of after care. I had to look it up on the net afterwards. I just want a better experience for my new pup. Thanks for the help ahead of time. I don't have friends that have boxers. The friends that I have that do have pets use the "discount" vets in the area and I really don't want to go that route. Also there are NO dog parks in my area. I would have to drive just over an hour to go to the closest on and the few times I went there was NO ONE there. I would live to go to my normal vet but they don't do the ear cropping. And yes I have discussed the ear cropping with my husband. He grew up with boxers and they were all cropped so this is the look that he is accustomed to. And as I said, his dog = his decision. This will be his dog since he is unable to work and needs the company. I am getting my puppy from a RESPONSIBLE breeder from a over a hundred miles away. I am accaintences with his brother's fiance. Obviously that is to far to go for the visits. And I am doing my own homework. I am merely comming on here for REFERENCES! This I had hoped would give me a few to check out that I had not thought of. That is why I am asking this now, not 2-3 months form now. If a pups ears are not to be cropped before 9 weeks of age, What responsible breeder would do so BEFORE they go home to a new family. Wouldn't cropping too early also be a sign of being an irresponsible breeder?... Read More »
